Improve flexibility to our muscles
- To bring muscles back to normal length after continuous shortening or contracting during exercise
- To get rid of lactic acid which is the by product of intense exercise
The most effective time to stretch is when the muscles are warm and pliable and in an elastic state
At this stage a greater range of motion can be achieved.
Slowly ease into each stretch to the point at which you feel a little tension. You should feel a comfortable stretch, and no pain. Breathe comfortably throughout and gently exhale at the moment of maximum stretch. DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH. Keep relaxed throughout the stretch this will decrease muscle tension.
Remember- never bounce when stretching and aim to hold each stretch for 15-30sec |
